Polog – vznemirljiva dolina miru
Dramatična pot nad kanjonom reke Tolminke nas bo pripeljala do planine Polog, kjer so bili med prvo svetovno vojno avstro-ogrski zaledni položaji za oskrbovanje bližnjih gorskih bojišč. Nad dolino kot opomnik vojne in hkrati brezčasen simbol miru stoji Spominska cerkev Svetega Duha v Javorci, ki prav zato nosi znak evropske dediščine. Očarljiva narava je na brežini Tolminke že skoraj zakrila italijanski bunker iz časa med obema vojnama, vseeno pa bomo preiskali njegove temne skrivnosti. Pred vrnitvijo v Tolmin si bomo na bližnji planini privoščili še degustacijo lokalnega sira avtohtone znamke Tolminc, izdelanega na tradicionalni način.

Polog – an exciting valley of peace
The impressive trail above the Tolminka gorge will lead us to the Polog alpine pasture where Austro-Hungarian rear positions were organized for the supply of the nearby mountain battlefields during the First World War. As a reminder of the war and also as a timeless symbol of peace, the Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit at Javorca rises above the pasture. Exactly for the reason of its deeper meaning it was awarded the European Heritage Label. The charming nature has almost blocked the view of the Italian pillbox on the Tolminka bank from the time between the two wars, but we shall nevertheless investigate its dark secrets. Before returning to Tolmin, we shall also enjoy tasting the local cheese of the autochthonous Tolminc brand, made in the traditional way on the alpine pasture.

Polog – emozionante valle della pace
Il drammatico percorso tra i canyon del fiume Tolminka ci porterà fino alla malga Polog, dove durante la Prima guerra mondiale si trovavano le postazione di retroguardia dell’esercito austro-ungarico per il rifornimento dei vicini campi di battaglia montani. Sopra la valle, come monito alla guerra e allo stesso tempo simbolo eterno della pace, c’è la chiesa commemorativa del Santo Spirito a Javorca, che proprio per questi motivi ha ottenuto il distintivo di patrimonio europeo. L’affascinante natura sul pendio della Tolminka ha già quasi ricoperto il buker italiano risalente al periodo tra le due guerre, esploreremo però comunque i suoi oscuri segreti. Prima di tornare a Tolmino nella vicina malga potremo degustare il formaggio locale del marchio autoctono Tolminc, prodotto con il metodo tradizionale.

Gedenkkirche des Heiligen Geistes auf Javorca
Polog – faszinierendes Tal des Friedens
Ein aufregender Weg über der Schlucht des Tolminkaflusses führt uns zur Alm Polog, wo sich während des Ersten Weltkrieges die österreichisch-ungarischen Hinterlandstellungen befanden, von denen aus die naheliegenden Hochgebirgsstellungen versorgt wurden. Oben am Tal, als Mahnmal des Krieges und gleichzeitig als zeitloses Symbol des Friedens, steht die Gedenkkirche des Heiligen Geistes auf Javorca, die auch deswegen zum Europäischen Erbe erklärt wurde. Die faszinierende Natur hat auf der Böschung des Tolminkaflusses schon fast den italienischen Bunker aus der Zeit zwischen den beiden Kriegen verdeckt, doch werden wir seine dunklen Geheimnisse trotzdem erforschen. Vor der Rückkehr nach Tolmin werden wir uns auf der nahen Alm noch eine Käseverkostung des lokalen bekannten autochtonen Käses Tolminka gönnen.
